Provide administrative support and assistance during Lighthouse week in the site office. Minimum age 18.

Overall responsibility for administration during Lighthouse week. Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe.

  • Work with Lighthouse Central to ensure all necessary administration for the Lighthouse is either carried out before Lighthouse commences or facilities to handle it are on site.
  • Work with Lighthouse Central to understand computer systems and ensure all team members likely to use it are also trained.
  • Help establish site offices and ensure sufficient supplies for spares etc.
  • Duties include fielding phone calls/emails and channeling to appropriate person to deal with.
  • Processing late applications from leaders and children if agreed by Trustees.
  • Issuing regular communication updates to Trustees and others.
  • Will need to be alert to potential illness or pastoral difficulties.




Co-ordinate teaching programme and activities for one year-group working alongside Age Group Teachers . Minimum age 16. 
Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe and Burnham.

  • Establish a team of LHK and LL’s
  • Lead and support Lighthouse Keepers and Lamplighters in this year-group.  
  • Attend pre-Lighthouse training sessions.  
  • Be familiar with the programme and teaching material before the event starts. 
  • Responsible for any discipline issues, both children and Lamplighters.
  • 10+ leaders responsible for leading /facilitating spiritual/activity workshops as per the timetable.

Lighthouse Administration will provide AGLs with:

  • A database report of the special needs of children in their groups, including any medications needed during the day. 
  • A list of children expected, and who have registered on each day
  • Blank registers for Lighthouses to use.
  • Allocation sheets to assist in the allocation of children to Lighthouses on Monday
  • Responsible for recording incidents




Chairman of the Trustees responsible for the management of local Lighthouse.

  • Provide leadership, support and organization to the Trustees.
  • Ensuring that the core values and principles of Lighthouse are adhered to.,
  • Responsibilities as for Trustees but with the additional responsibility of chairing Trustees meetings.
  • ideally the Chairman should not hold any other Lighthouse roles.
  • Facilitates effective ecumenical relations and communications.
  • Registered with Charity Commission and undertake to act with all legal responsibilities associated with this role.




To ensure the site is kept in a clean and hygienic state.

  • Clean the leaders’ and children’s toilets and vacuum the main marquee at the end of each day, commencing any time after 4pm for 1-2 hours.
  • Ensure toilets are well stocked with toilet paper, soap and paper towels, and bins are emptied.




Assist with craft programme consisting of one session each day for each year-group.  Minimum age 14.

  • Each year group takes part in a craft session each day.  
  • Includes setting up the tables, clearing and re-setting up between groups and then final clear up once the last has been through. 
  • During the sessions ,helpers will be assigned to a table to oversee, encourage and assist the children.  Lighthouse keepers and Lamplighters will also be in attendance.




Prior to Lighthouse, check leader DBS forms and identity documents.in line with current DBS requirements.

  • Requires training and signature to confirm checking will be done in line with DBS. 




Co-ordinates first aid facilities for helpers and children.

  • Either book an external agency (e.g. Red Cross or St John’s Ambulance) ahead of time or gather a team of qualified first aiders.
  • Check the qualifications of own first aiders for currency.
  • Ensure an adequate facility is established on site and that everyone knows where it is.
  • Ensure sufficient first aiders and resources are available at all times.
  • Ensure first aiders have appropriate access to any details of relevant medicals needs of children.
  • Ensure availability of transport should a child need to be taken to hospital.
  • Work with Registration Co-ordinator to ensure a robust system for handling any medications needed by children during the day.
  • Liaise with site office to organise collection of sick/injured children.

Co-ordinate and rota the team serving refreshments in helpers refreshments/comfort zone.

  • Serve hot/cold drinks and snacks throughout the day.
  • Discreet overseeing of younger helpers while on their breaks e.g., encouraging them to return to their groups after their allotted break time.
  • Can be part-time.




  • Assist Lighthouse Keepers in looking after a group of children throughout the week.
  • Doesn’t have to be a practising Christian.

Each Lighthouse (a group of between 10-15 children of the same age) is run by a Lighthouse Keeper (LHK) with one, or more, younger helpers called Lamplighters (LL). Lamplighters are at the heart of Lighthouse. 

Your job is to care for the children in your Lighthouse throughout the week. This entails:

  • Meeting them at Registration and taking them to their groups
  • Going with them to the various activities
  • Helping and joining in with the various activities
  • Helping them to enjoy themselves, and being attentive to their welfare
  • Eating with the children at lunch
  • Providing drinks as necessary
  • Taking them to the toilet, where necessary




Oversee a ‘Lighthouse’ of 10-15 children throughout the week. 
Minimum Age 16 at Lighthouse High Wycombe and Burnham

  • Lead one Lighthouse session each day.  
  • Support and manage Lamplighters (assistant leaders) in your Lighthouse group.
  • Your job is to care for the children in your Lighthouse throughout the week.
  • Completion and regular reference to the attendance register.
  • Counting them (before and after moving from place to place).
  • Going with them to the various activities.
  • Helping and joining in with the various activities.
  • Helping them to enjoy themselves, and being attentive to their welfare.
  • Eating with the children at lunch.
  • Providing drinks as necessary.
  • Liaise with parents as necessary.




  • Co-ordinates band. 
    Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe and Burnham. 

    • Leads band which delivers worship for Helpers Briefing, main stage, Little Lighthouse and 4’s each day and for the Dedication service. 
    • The Musical Co-ordinator should coordinate with the Lighthouse Trustees relating to the Team Worship sessions.
    • The Musical Co-ordinator coordinates requirements with the  Main Stage and Site Team including (i) Appropriate Staging for Bands (ii) OHPs, Screens and blackout material so that lyrics can be projected.
    • The Techie team should be consulted to ensure appropriate electrical supplies and amplification are available.




  • Be part of one of the worship teams .

    • Play and/or sing as required.
    • Be available to rehearse before Lighthouse as arranged by the Music Co-ordinator and for worship for the Sunday afternoon Lighthouse dedication service.

    Minimum age 16 at Lighthouse Burnham





Are on site during the Lighthouse week, prayer walk the site and are available for personal prayer with volunteers in a visible and central location



Gather prayer requests to share via email and at prayer meetings.

  • This role starts close to the beginning of the Lighthouse year and involves being the point to which all prayer requests are directed;
  • collating these and if necessary editing for duplication/confidentiality and forwarding to Lighthouse local admin for circulation on a monthly basis and to the organiser of the monthly prayer meetings.  
  • Responsible for facilitating the Prayer Space on site during Lighthouse week, liaising with the Pastoral Team.




Plans and leads sports/games programmes for one session a day with each year group, age appropriate. Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe

  • Co-ordinate collection of any necessary equipment. Help recruit sports/games team and then lead them in the activities for each day.  
  • This role may require additional responsibilities including helping  with helpers children during the morning meeting and assisting with children’s departure at the end of the day.
  • Co-ordinate and lead the Sports Team.




  • Help prepare and deliver two daily main stage events for all year groups together and others as required.
  • Liaise with the band and techies.

Must have an aptitude for stage performance.

Minimum age 14 at Lighthouse Burnham





Co-ordinate the audio visual equipment requirements and team. 
Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe and Burnham. 

  • Work with main stage team and musicians to determine what the requirements are and work to achieve these.  
  • Co-ordinate the team to ensure sufficient people are available to operate equipment during all main stage sessions and Sunday dedication service.
  • Setting up and sound checks on the Saturday and Sunday prior to Lighthouse. 
  • Strike down late Friday/Saturday after Lighthouse ends.  
  • Previous experience required.

  • Registered with Charity Commission and undertake to act with all legal responsibilities associated with this role.  
  • Meet monthly, from October, with the other Trustees to plan action needed. 
  • Undertake one or more area of responsibility and oversee these areas to ensure all ready in time.
  • Responsible for financial oversight.
  • Responsible for Child Protection.
