About Lighthouse Loudwater

What is Lighthouse?

Lighthouse is a holiday club for children run by Christians from local churches. We aim to introduce the children to God, explore the Bible with them and help them look to Jesus as their special friend - all in a fun-filled week with sport, craft, performing arts and music.

There are now 14 Lighthouses - Beaconsfield, Bletchley South, Bourne End, Burnham, Cressex, Great Missenden, Hazlemere, High Wycombe, Langley, Mansfield, Marlow, Princes Risborough, Shelswell, and of course, Loudwater, new for 2022!

What goes on at Lighthouse?

At the start and finish of the day everyone is together for worship, Discovery (teaching), drama, competitions, etc. In between children have a programme of games, performing arts and craft, plus sessions to explore the day's theme.

Where and when?

Lighthouse will take place from Monday 22nd August to Friday 26th August. It is held at  Loudwater Combined School, Kingsmead Road, Loudwater, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, HP11 1JJ

What are the timings?

10am to 3 pm

Who is in charge of the children?

Lighthouse is run by volunteers.  Children are in year-groups, which are broken down into smaller Lighthouse groups. Each Lighthouse has a Lighthouse Keeper (leader) and Lamplighters (assistants). Specialist teams help with craft, performing arts and games. We take up references for all helpers and police check adults.

Groups

Year groups are based on a child's age on 31 August. If you ask in advance, it may be possible for a child to join a younger age group to be with a friend or sibling. Friends arriving together on day 1 have the best chance of being in the same Lighthouse.

How much does it cost?

To run Lighthouse Loudwater costs £50 for each child. (which we think is fabulous value!).

Although we do not charge a set amount for children to attend, (as we do not want to deny any child a place) we do rely upon your donations and those of local churches, businesses and other generous benefactors so Lighthouse can continue each year.  Details of how you can support Lighthouse Loudwater will be sent with tickets and you can look at our donations page.

We want to provide a great experience for your child. Please support us. Every donation, great or small, makes a difference. Thank you!

What happens next?

Volunteer applications will open in February.

Only volunteers children, grandchildren or volunteers younger siblings are guaranteed places. After this, places are postcode allocated for the Loudwater postcode and on a first come first served basis. We will write to you in late June as soon as we have allocated places.
