Lighthouse is a holiday club for children run by Christians from local churches. We aim to introduce the children to God, explore the Bible with them and help them look to Jesus as their special friend - all in a fun-filled week with sport, craft, performing arts and music.
There are now 13 Lighthouses - Beaconsfield, Bletchley South, Bourne End, Burnham, Cressex, Great Missenden, Hazlemere, High Wycombe, Langley, Mansfield, Marlow, Princes Risborough and of course, Shelswell new for 2021!
At the start and finish of the day everyone is together for worship, teaching, drama, competitions, etc. In between children have a programme of games, performing arts and craft, plus sessions to explore the day's theme.
Lighthouse Shelswell takes place from Monday July 26th to Friday July 30th. It is held at Finmere CE Primary School Mere Road, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire MK18 4AR
5-11's: 10.00 a.m. - 3.30 p.m.
Lighthouse is run by volunteers. This year, due to Covid, the structure is a little different. Numbers will be limited to 45 children who will be in one of three groups: 5 – 7s, 8 – 9s, and 10 plus. Each group has a Lighthouse Keeper (leader) and Lamplighters (assistants), and all activities will take place within that group. We take up references for all helpers and police check adults.
Year groups are based on a child's age on 31 August. If you ask in advance, it may be possible for a child to join a younger age group to be with a friend or sibling. Friends arriving together on day 1 have the best chance of being in the same Lighthouse.
We welcome applications for children with special needs and will do all we can to accommodate such applications but in order to ensure the appropriate support is in place it is essential that you tell us well in advance if your child has additional help at school or has an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP). .
Running Lighthouse costs about £50 per child. We do not charge to attend, but rely on your donations. Details of how to give are sent with tickets.
Volunteer applications are now open.
Only volunteers children, grandchildren or volunteers younger siblings are guaranteed places. After this, places are given on a first come, first served basis. We will write to you in late June as soon as we have allocated places.
