  • Work with Lighthouse Central to ensure all necessary administration for the Lighthouse is either carried out before Lighthouse commences or facilities to handle it are on site.
  • Work with Lighthouse Central to understand computer systems and ensure all team members likely to use it are also trained.
  • Help establish site offices and ensure sufficient supplies for spares etc.
  • Duties include fielding phone calls/emails and channeling to appropriate person to deal with.
  • Processing late applications from leaders and children if agreed by Trustees.
  • Issuing regular communication updates to Trustees and others.
  • Will need to be alert to potential illness or pastoral difficulties.




Co-ordinate teaching programme and activities for one year-group working alongside Age Group Teachers . Minimum age 16. 
Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe and Burnham.

  • Establish a team of LHK and LL’s
  • Lead and support Lighthouse Keepers and Lamplighters in this year-group.  
  • Attend pre-Lighthouse training sessions.  
  • Be familiar with the programme and teaching material before the event starts. 
  • Responsible for any discipline issues, both children and Lamplighters.
  • 10+ leaders responsible for leading /facilitating spiritual/activity workshops as per the timetable.

Lighthouse Administration will provide AGLs with:

  • A database report of the special needs of children in their groups, including any medications needed during the day. 
  • A list of children expected, and who have registered on each day
  • Blank registers for Lighthouses to use.
  • Allocation sheets to assist in the allocation of children to Lighthouses on Monday
  • Responsible for recording incidents




Prepare and deliver one daily teaching session for the whole year group based on the material provided by the Teaching Co-ordinator Minimum age 16

  • Assist/enable Lighthouse Keepers in using the provided material with their children in the daily Lighthouse session. 
  • Attend main stage sessions and connect teaching to material presented there.




Supervise the car parks each day from 8.30 - 10.45 am & 3.30 - 4.00 pm

  • Requires you to be in place at the times stated and to direct adults dropping/collecting their children to parking spaces.
  • Florescent jackets will be provided .
  • Offering a site plan in case new parents need directions to the Registration tent.
  • Considerate driving and care for our neighbours makes a good impression over a level of traffic that must be a nuisance for them.




Coordinates the team who help supervise children in the quiet area - a place set aside for children who need some space and peace.

  • Welcome any incoming children and be sensitive to their needs either by encouraging the child to settle into individual activities themselves or playing with the child.

  • Collect craft materials needed to support the activities for the expected numbers of children .
  • Agree and communicate collection points for these materials.  
  • Organise and prepare additional materials and equipment for use on site.  
  • Recruit, lead and train team of craft volunteers with the activities before Lighthouse starts.  
  • Oversee the daily sessions. 
  • Co-ordinate and lead craft team.

Co-ordinate the checking of leaders Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) applications and identity documents. Minimum Age 18.

  • Recruit and lead team of DBS checkers.  
  • Hold training/refresher sessions as necessary.  
  • Ensure all checkers are provided with a copy of latest Lighthouse child protection policy plus latest DBS requirements and have signed a statement confirming they will work to these standards. 
  • Agree with Lighthouse Central administration the deadline by when all forms must be checked.
  • Some home visits may need to be arranged.
  • Checked forms need to be delivered to Lighthouse Central and follow up is required over handling of incorrectly checked forms and late applicants.




Assist with drama/performing arts programme consisting of one session each day for each year-group.  Minimum age 14.

  • Under guidance of the Drama Co-ordinator, help lead a drama session each day for  each year-group.  Although the activities may be repeated for each age group, some adaptation will be needed to suit different age groups.  
  • Includes any setting up, clearing away and gathering of props as needed. 
  • This role may require additional responsibilities including helping  with helpers children during the morning meeting and assisting with children’s departure at the end of the day.




Implement the drama/peforming arts programme. Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe.

  • Lead performing arts team and oversee the daily sessions. The children will come in their year groups so the activity may need to be tailored to their age.  
  • Acquire supporting props for the expected numbers of children.  
  • Recruit and lead team of volunteers including familiarisation with the activities before Lighthouse starts.
  • This role may require additional responsibilities helping with helpers children during the morning meeting and assisting with children’s departure at the end of the day.
  • Co-ordinate and lead the drama/performing arts team.

For our younger volunteers (12-18 year olds), some Lighthouses run evening activities during the Lighthouse week as a 'thank you' for all their hard work.  At Hazlemere this is called 'Fresh Cafe', at Princes Risborough 'Fiesta' and at Thame 'Halo:gen'.

Qualified First Aiders to attend to children and leaders during the week. Must have current Red Cross or St John’s ambulance certificate. Minimum age 18.

  • Serve hot/cold drinks and snacks throughout the day.

Each Lighthouse (a group of between 10-15 children of the same age) is run by a Lighthouse Keeper (LHK) with one, or more, younger helpers called Lamplighters (LL). Lamplighters are at the heart of Lighthouse. 

Your job is to care for the children in your Lighthouse throughout the week. This entails:

  • Meeting them at Registration and taking them to their groups
  • Going with them to the various activities
  • Helping and joining in with the various activities
  • Helping them to enjoy themselves, and being attentive to their welfare
  • Eating with the children at lunch
  • Providing drinks as necessary
  • Taking them to the toilet, where necessary




Oversee a ‘Lighthouse’ of 10-15 children throughout the week. 
Minimum Age 16 at Lighthouse High Wycombe and Burnham

  • Lead one Lighthouse session each day.  
  • Support and manage Lamplighters (assistant leaders) in your Lighthouse group.
  • Your job is to care for the children in your Lighthouse throughout the week.

  • Counting them (before and after moving from place to place).

Little Lighthouse is our Parent & Toddler provision.

  • Co-ordinates band. 
    Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe and Burnham. 

    • Leads band which delivers worship for Helpers Briefing, main stage, Little Lighthouse and 4’s each day and for the Dedication service. 
    • The Musical Co-ordinator should coordinate with the Lighthouse Trustees relating to the Team Worship sessions.
    • The Musical Co-ordinator coordinates requirements with the  Main Stage and Site Team including (i) Appropriate Staging for Bands (ii) OHPs, Screens and blackout material so that lyrics can be projected.
    • The Techie team should be consulted to ensure appropriate electrical supplies and amplification are available.




  • Be part of one of the worship teams .

    • Play and/or sing as required.
    • Be available to rehearse before Lighthouse as arranged by the Music Co-ordinator and for worship for the Sunday afternoon Lighthouse dedication service.

    Minimum age 16 at Lighthouse Burnham





  • A small team (minimum two) is required each night (7 pm - 7 am) to maintain the security of the site. Minimum age 18.

    • Attend sight each night between 7.00 pm and 7.00 am in order to ensure security of site and facilities.
    • Involves regular patrols around the site. Confront any intruders and call for help if required. Communication by radio and mobile phone.




Available to address the pastoral needs of helpers.

  • Work with Pastoral Coordinator to ensure someone is available throughout the week.
  • Be available to meet/listen/talk to/pray with any leaders/helpers needing support.




Co-ordinate the Pastoral Team. Minimum Age 18.

  • Lead a small team of people giving pastoral help and support to leaders and helpers during the week.
  • Will include listening, praying, follow up and maybe practical support too if relevant and possible. Will need to be done sensitively and enable the person engage fully with their role in Lighthouse.
  • Liaise with prayer co-ordinator.




Are on site during the Lighthouse week, prayer walk the site and are available for personal prayer with volunteers in a visible and central location



Co-ordinate the registration of children on arrival. Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe. 

  • To be familiar with current registration/deregistration processes ahead of Lighthouse. Carry a radio during the week for contact with rest of site team.
  • During Lighthouse arrival time ensure sufficient people available to check children arriving all have tickets plus badges on lanyards. 
  • Have one person available for dealing with messages/forgotten or lost tickets/late acceptances etc.  
  • Arrange supplies of pens, blank replacement tickets and badges, lanyards.
  • After arrival, send tickets to the site office for processing.  
  • Ensure all messages received are relayed to the correct parties.
  • Work with First Aid Co-ordinator to ensure a robust system for handling any medications needed by children during the day.
  • Reception of children arriving late or leaving early.
  • Sick children will be brought to Registration once a collection time has been established for them.
  • Manage parents coming onto site through at the end of the day.
  • Co-ordinate lost property.

  • as far as possible, deter parents from coming any further on to site, dependent on the child.




Responsible for the Lighthouse shop, café, parents welcome zone, helpers refreshments and quiet area.

Co-ordinate the team of shop helpers so that there is someone around the area throughout the day.

  • Procure stock.
  • Mark up goods
  • Ensure that stock, float and takings are stored in a secure location overnight , probably with the Lighthouse Treasurer.

Co-ordinate the Parent Welcome Team which aims to make adults bringing/collecting children feel welcome.

  • Works with team to ensure there are enough helpers and supplies available to serve hot/cold drinks and light refreshments to parents as they drop off and collect their children between 9.45 - 11.15am and 3.00 – 4.00 pm each day.
  • Model and encourage friendly interaction and Christian witness to the parents.
  • Ensure area is kept clean and tidy.

Co-ordinate the helpers’ comfort zone which serves tea, coffee and squash throughout the day.

  • Co-ordinate team of helpers to ensure sufficient people available to serve the refreshments.
  • Ensure the area is well supplied with refreshments.
  • Duties also include clearing up and some discreet supervision of younger leaders.

Serving children and parents in the Lighthouse shop and café.

  • Serve drinks and snacks. 
  • Keep café area clean and tidy.
  • Operate shop.




Work with the Site Manager to ensure a safe and effective set up and break down of the Lighhouse site. This role is perfomed before the start of the LH week, usually the weekend before and may involve furniture removal, putting up signage, putting up gazebos/tents,  setting up cones to delineate areas - and a lot more!

At the end of the week the site must be cleared and all resources stored, borrowed items returned etc





Member of team responsible for ensuring site and facilities function properly. Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe. 

  • Work with Site Manager to ensure smooth running of the programme and supporting infrastructure. 
  • Carry out a range of maintenance/ DIY tasks and off-site errands as directed by the site manager during Lighthouse week.  
  • May also involve some security functions such as occasional site patrols or escorting children across site (with another adult).
  • This role may require additional responsibilities such as helping  with helpers children during the morning meeting and assisting with children’s departure at the end of the day.




Responsible for the site during Lighthouse week, development of the site before Lighthouse week and break down of site afterwards.

  • Liaises with school/site owner to make advance arrangements for site layout and manages the site for the week. 
  • Develops site plan.
  • Liaises with outside suppliers/contractors on all matters regarding the site.
  • Ensures all health and safety requirements are met. 
  • Recruits and organises site crew and security.
  • Works with trustees and team leaders to determine best use of facilities available and determines what further facilities (eg marquees/toilets) need to be sourced. 
  • Manages site crew, security (day and night if necessary), car parking and cleaning teams.




Co-ordinate the provision of facilities and helpers for children with special needs. Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe.

  • Obtain from Lighthouse admin the details of all special needs children needing specific attention. 
  • Plan facilities and activities needed for the special needs area, obtain resources necessary and recruit team members if not already available. As far as possible, special needs children will be integrated into the main programme within a group appropriate to their level of need. 
  • You will need to allocate 1:1 Special Needs Helpers to the children who need extra help. They will accompany the child throughout the day in their Lighthouse and in 'The Space' (the special needs area). You will be responsible for a circle time in 'The Space' for those children who have 1:1 help during morning registration.

Assist with games programme consisting of one session each day for each year-group. Minimum age 14.

  • Support Sports Team co-ordinator in running sports/games programme for each age group each day.
  • Duties include participating in sports, modelling good sporting behaviour and careful actions, leading games, setting games up, re-setting between age groups and clearing up at the end of the day.  
  • May also involve accompanying children to the toilet, so need to be aware of the protocol for doing this. 
  • This role may require additional responsibilities including helping  with helpers children during the morning meeting and assisting with children’s departure at the end of the day.




Plans and leads sports/games programmes for one session a day with each year group, age appropriate. Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe

  • Co-ordinate collection of any necessary equipment. Help recruit sports/games team and then lead them in the activities for each day.  
  • This role may require additional responsibilities including helping  with helpers children during the morning meeting and assisting with children’s departure at the end of the day.

  • Help prepare and deliver two daily main stage events for all year groups together and others as required.
  • Liaise with the band and techies.

  • Leader of the team that prepares and delivers the main stage sessions. 
    Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe and Burnham.

    • Work with teaching co-ordinator, techies and stage team to prepare and deliver two main stage sessions each day for all age groups together.
    • Arrange for necessary props and effects to be available.
    • Liaise with band and Little Lighthouse

  • Works with Age Group Teachers to implement themes for teaching sessions suitable to each year-group.

  • Communicate this material at a pre-lighthouse training session for AGLs/AGTs.  
  • Liaise with Stage team as needed and support AGLs/AGTs throughout the week.




Lighting and audio visual equipment operators. Previous experience required

  • Operate audio-visual equipment during main stage sessions and Sunday dedication service.
  • Involves setting up and sound checks on the Saturday and Sunday prior to Lighthouse.
  • Strike down late Friday/Saturday after Lighthouse ends.

Minimum age 16 at Lighthouse Burnham





  • Overall responsibility of local Lighthouse as a team.
  • Registered with Charity Commission and undertake to act with all legal responsibilities associated with this role.  
  • Meet monthly, from October, with the other Trustees to plan action needed. 
  • Undertake one or more area of responsibility and oversee these areas to ensure all ready in time.
  • Responsible for financial oversight.
  • Responsible for Child Protection.
