Provide administrative support and assistance during Lighthouse week in the site office. Minimum age 18.

Co-ordinate teaching programme and activities for one year-group working alongside Age Group Teachers . Minimum age 16. 
Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe and Burnham.

  • Establish a team of LHK and LL’s
  • Lead and support Lighthouse Keepers and Lamplighters in this year-group.  
  • Attend pre-Lighthouse training sessions.  
  • Be familiar with the programme and teaching material before the event starts. 
  • Responsible for any discipline issues, both children and Lamplighters.
  • 10+ leaders responsible for leading /facilitating spiritual/activity workshops as per the timetable.

Lighthouse Administration will provide AGLs with:

  • A database report of the special needs of children in their groups, including any medications needed during the day. 
  • A list of children expected, and who have registered on each day
  • Blank registers for Lighthouses to use.
  • Allocation sheets to assist in the allocation of children to Lighthouses on Monday
  • Responsible for recording incidents




Supervise the car parks each day from 8.30 - 10.45 am & 3.30 - 4.00 pm

  • Requires you to be in place at the times stated and to direct adults dropping/collecting their children to parking spaces.
  • Florescent jackets will be provided .
  • Offering a site plan in case new parents need directions to the Registration tent.
  • Considerate driving and care for our neighbours makes a good impression over a level of traffic that must be a nuisance for them.




Help supervise children in the quiet area - a place set aside for children who need some space and peace.

  • Welcome any incoming children and be sensitive to their needs either by encouraging the child to settle into individual activities themselves or playing with the child.
  • May include accompanying them to the toilet and back to their groups when ready.




To ensure the site is kept in a clean and hygienic state.

  • Clean the leaders’ and children’s toilets and vacuum the main marquee at the end of each day, commencing any time after 4pm for 1-2 hours.
  • Ensure toilets are well stocked with toilet paper, soap and paper towels, and bins are emptied.




Implementing planned craft activity for each day suitable for each year group in line with the week’s theme early in the year. Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe.

  • Collect craft materials needed to support the activities for the expected numbers of children .
  • Agree and communicate collection points for these materials.  
  • Organise and prepare additional materials and equipment for use on site.  
  • Recruit, lead and train team of craft volunteers with the activities before Lighthouse starts.  
  • Oversee the daily sessions. 
  • Co-ordinate and lead craft team.




Assist with craft programme consisting of one session each day for each year-group.  Minimum age 14.

  • Each year group takes part in a craft session each day.  
  • Includes setting up the tables, clearing and re-setting up between groups and then final clear up once the last has been through. 
  • During the sessions ,helpers will be assigned to a table to oversee, encourage and assist the children.  Lighthouse keepers and Lamplighters will also be in attendance.




Co-ordinate the team who entertain and see to the welfare of the pre-school children of Lighthouse volunteers. The age range is 0 - 4 years.





Under the supervision of the Creche Co-ordinator the team entertain and see to the welfare of the pre-school children of Lighthouse volunteers. The age range is 0 - 4 years.





Member of team responsible for keeping site and people safe and secure during the day. Minimum age 18.

  • Works at direction of Site Manager and includes regular site patrols and may involve confronting anyone unknown on site or behaving inappropriately.
  • May also involve escorting children across site (with another adult)
  • Assist with children’s departure at the end of the day.

Can be full time or part-time.

For our younger volunteers (12-18 year olds), some Lighthouses run evening activities during the Lighthouse week as a 'thank you' for all their hard work.  At Hazlemere this is called 'Fresh Cafe', at Princes Risborough 'Fiesta' and at Thame 'Halo:gen'.

  • Duties will include registering children, accompanying them to the toilet, helping and engaging with them during their activities and delivering them to their groups.

  • Plan and resource daily activities for children each morning while parents attend morning leaders meeting.  
  • Co-ordinate team of helpers to ensure children are registered correctly, supervised adequately and then taken to their groups between for the start of Lighthouse.

  • Serve hot/cold drinks and snacks throughout the day.
  • Discreet overseeing of younger helpers while on their breaks e.g., encouraging them to return to their groups after their allotted break time.
  • Can be part-time.

  • Assist Lighthouse Keepers in looking after a group of children throughout the week.
  • Doesn’t have to be a practising Christian.

Each Lighthouse (a group of between 10-15 children of the same age) is run by a Lighthouse Keeper (LHK) with one, or more, younger helpers called Lamplighters (LL). Lamplighters are at the heart of Lighthouse. 

Your job is to care for the children in your Lighthouse throughout the week. This entails:

  • Meeting them at Registration and taking them to their groups
  • Going with them to the various activities
  • Helping and joining in with the various activities
  • Helping them to enjoy themselves, and being attentive to their welfare
  • Eating with the children at lunch
  • Providing drinks as necessary
  • Taking them to the toilet, where necessary




Oversee a ‘Lighthouse’ of 10-15 children throughout the week. 
Minimum Age 16 at Lighthouse High Wycombe and Burnham

  • Lead one Lighthouse session each day.  
  • Support and manage Lamplighters (assistant leaders) in your Lighthouse group.
  • Your job is to care for the children in your Lighthouse throughout the week.
  • Completion and regular reference to the attendance register.
  • Counting them (before and after moving from place to place).
  • Going with them to the various activities.
  • Helping and joining in with the various activities.
  • Helping them to enjoy themselves, and being attentive to their welfare.
  • Eating with the children at lunch.
  • Providing drinks as necessary.
  • Liaise with parents as necessary.




  • Be part of one of the worship teams .

    • Play and/or sing as required.
    • Be available to rehearse before Lighthouse as arranged by the Music Co-ordinator and for worship for the Sunday afternoon Lighthouse dedication service.

Co-ordinate the Parent Welcome Team which aims to make adults bringing/collecting children feel welcome.

Available to address the pastoral needs of helpers.

  • Work with Pastoral Coordinator to ensure someone is available throughout the week.
  • Be available to meet/listen/talk to/pray with any leaders/helpers needing support.




Co-ordinate the Pastoral Team. Minimum Age 18.

  • Lead a small team of people giving pastoral help and support to leaders and helpers during the week.
  • Will include listening, praying, follow up and maybe practical support too if relevant and possible. Will need to be done sensitively and enable the person engage fully with their role in Lighthouse.
  • Liaise with prayer co-ordinator.




Are on site during the Lighthouse week, prayer walk the site and are available for personal prayer with volunteers in a visible and central location



Assist with registering children as they arrive.

As directed by the Registration Co-ordinator;

  • collect tickets from children as they arrive.
  • man the Medications desk, or Registration solutions desk.
  • as far as possible, deter parents from coming any further on to site, dependent on the child.




Work with the Site Manager to ensure a safe and effective set up and break down of the Lighhouse site. This role is perfomed before the start of the LH week, usually the weekend before and may involve furniture removal, putting up signage, putting up gazebos/tents,  setting up cones to delineate areas - and a lot more!

At the end of the week the site must be cleared and all resources stored, borrowed items returned etc





Member of team responsible for ensuring site and facilities function properly. Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe. 

  • Work with Site Manager to ensure smooth running of the programme and supporting infrastructure. 
  • Carry out a range of maintenance/ DIY tasks and off-site errands as directed by the site manager during Lighthouse week.  
  • May also involve some security functions such as occasional site patrols or escorting children across site (with another adult).
  • This role may require additional responsibilities such as helping  with helpers children during the morning meeting and assisting with children’s departure at the end of the day.




Responsible for the site during Lighthouse week, development of the site before Lighthouse week and break down of site afterwards.

  • Liaises with school/site owner to make advance arrangements for site layout and manages the site for the week. 
  • Develops site plan.
  • Liaises with outside suppliers/contractors on all matters regarding the site.
  • Ensures all health and safety requirements are met. 
  • Recruits and organises site crew and security.
  • Works with trustees and team leaders to determine best use of facilities available and determines what further facilities (eg marquees/toilets) need to be sourced. 
  • Manages site crew, security (day and night if necessary), car parking and cleaning teams.




Help with the supervision of children with identified special needs.

  • As far as possible, special needs children will be integrated into the main programme within an age group most appropriate to their needs. You will be allocated to help a child 1:1 through discussion with the Special Needs co-ordinator. 
  • During morning registration you will support this child to access a circle time in 'The Space' (quiet area away from the main sessions). 
  • Throughout the rest of the day you will accompany the same child to their main group activities.  
  • Duties will include accompanying them to the toilet and helping with lunch/drinks as appropriate.
  • Please read the information found in the Lighthouse Special Needs Handbook in order to find out more about looking after Special Needs Children at Lighthouse.
  • You will also need to provide clear instructions, and timetables, to inform the helpers who have special needs what is expected of them at Lighthouse. 
  • During Lighthouse week you can be a 'link-person' for a helper who has special needs or you can volunteer in another role.
  • Please read the guidelines for the Co-ordinator of helpers with special needs for more detailed information about the role, and examples of timetables, and role descriptions, for the helpers who have special needs.




Assist with games programme consisting of one session each day for each year-group. Minimum age 14.

  • Support Sports Team co-ordinator in running sports/games programme for each age group each day.
  • Duties include participating in sports, modelling good sporting behaviour and careful actions, leading games, setting games up, re-setting between age groups and clearing up at the end of the day.  
  • May also involve accompanying children to the toilet, so need to be aware of the protocol for doing this. 
  • This role may require additional responsibilities including helping  with helpers children during the morning meeting and assisting with children’s departure at the end of the day.




Plans and leads sports/games programmes for one session a day with each year group, age appropriate. Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe

  • Co-ordinate collection of any necessary equipment. Help recruit sports/games team and then lead them in the activities for each day.  
  • This role may require additional responsibilities including helping  with helpers children during the morning meeting and assisting with children’s departure at the end of the day.
  • Co-ordinate and lead the Sports Team.




  • Help prepare and deliver two daily main stage events for all year groups together and others as required.
  • Liaise with the band and techies.

Must have an aptitude for stage performance.

Minimum age 14 at Lighthouse Burnham





Co-ordinate the audio visual equipment requirements and team. 
Minimum Age 18 at Lighthouse High Wycombe and Burnham. 

  • Work with main stage team and musicians to determine what the requirements are and work to achieve these.  
  • Co-ordinate the team to ensure sufficient people are available to operate equipment during all main stage sessions and Sunday dedication service.
  • Setting up and sound checks on the Saturday and Sunday prior to Lighthouse. 
  • Strike down late Friday/Saturday after Lighthouse ends.  
  • Previous experience required.
