Lighthouse is a holiday club for children run by Christians from local churches. We aim to introduce the children to God, explore the Bible with them and help them look to Jesus as their special friend - all in a fun-filled week with sport, craft, performing arts and music.
There are now 14 Lighthouses - Beaconsfield, Bletchley South, Bourne End, Burnham, Cressex, Great Missenden, Hazlemere, High Wycombe, Loudwater, Mansfield, Marlow, Princes Risborough, Shelswell and of course, Langley.
At the start and finish of the day everyone is together for worship, teaching, drama, competitions, etc. In between children have a programme of games, performing arts and craft, plus sessions to explore the day's theme.
Lighthouse Langley will take place from Monday 25th to Friday 29th July. The venue is St. Bernards Catholic Grammar School, 1 Langley Rd, Slough SL3 7AF
5-11's: 10.00 a.m. - 3.30 p.m.
Lighthouse is run by volunteers. Children are in year-groups, which are broken down into smaller Lighthouse groups. Each Lighthouse has a Lighthouse Keeper (leader) and Lamplighters (assistants). Specialist teams help with craft, performing arts and games. We take up references for all helpers and police check adults.
Year groups are based on a child's age on 31 August. If you ask in advance, it may be possible for a child to join a younger age group to be with a friend or sibling. Friends arriving together on day 1 have the best chance of being in the same Lighthouse.
We welcome applications for children with special needs and will do all we can to accommodate such applications but in order to ensure the appropriate support is in place it is essential that you tell us well in advance if your child has additional help at school or has an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) .
To run Lighthouse Langley costs £50 for each child. (which we think is fabulous value!).
Although we do not charge a set amount for children to attend, (as we do not want to deny any child a place) we do rely upon your donations and those of local churches, businesses and other generous benefactors so Lighthouse can continue each year. Details of how you can support Lighthouse Langley will be sent with tickets and you can look at our donations page. Donate here
We want to provide a great experience for your child. Please support us. Every donation, great or small, makes a difference. Thank you!
Volunteer applications will open in February.
Only volunteers children, grandchildren or volunteers younger siblings are guaranteed places. After this, places are given on a first come, first served basis. We will write to you in late June as soon as we have allocated places.
